Star Wars, Homemade Turkey Soup, and NaNoWriMo Updates

ON THE WRITING FRONT:

It has been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve been busy with NaNoWriMo and with work. That being said, I have a tendency of overdoing it at work – which has left me little time to write fiction for NaNoWriMo. I have to admit that I have also been a little less than motivated as well. However, it’s down to the wire and nothing motivates me more than a deadline!

NaNoWriMo ends on Sunday. That means that I have two and a half days to write 8,000 words. If I write as vigorously and enthusiastically as I did during the first couple days of November, I should have this in the bag.

ON THE HOMEFRONT:

Friday #2

It’s the day after Thanksgiving and I still feel like this…

It is Black Friday today! How many of you went shopping? Did you make it back with all of your limbs intact? All ten fingers and all ten toes? Let’s hope so.

I didn’t go shopping today. Instead, I opted to stay in and write (non-fiction for work and fiction for NaNo) and by “stay in“, I mean “set up camp in the corner of my favorite cafe.” Tomorrow Jake and I will head to the last WFPS NANO WRITE-IN and to a family friend’s home for our second Thanksgiving of the season. On Sunday we will set up Christmas decor. I’m getting in the mood by listening to the Charlie Brown Christmas and Nutcracker soundtracks.

When do you set up your holiday decorations?

Since it is Post-Thanksgiving, I would like to share my favorite leftover recipe my favorite Thanksgiving leftover recipe for Homemade Turkey Soup from Taste of Home’s website. I also shared this recipe on Thom McFadden’s website so feel free to check it out there.

ON THE SCI-FI FRONT:

If you are a Star Wars fan, I would like to hear your thoughts on the teaser trailer that was just released. If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out here:

Did you see the new lightsaber? #omgiwouldhurtmyself

New Lightsaber

Anyway, it’s back to the word mines for me.

50 Coolest Writers of All Time

If you’re looking to procrastinate from work on this lovely Monday afternoon, check out this shortlist of the 50 Coolest Writers of All Time. I think that we can all agree that the title is a big presumptuous. “…of All Time”, really? But, while I agree that sometimes (okay, “a lot of the time”) female writers aren’t nearly as represented as they should be, that doesn’t negate the fact that all of these authors are great in their own way.

The people who commented on the article were very opinionated about the fact that their favorite authors didn’t make the cut. I know how they feel. I didn’t make the list either — just kidding.

Here’s your chance to voice your opinion. Which authors should have made the cut (but didn’t) and which authors shouldn’t have been on the list? I’m excited to hear your comments on the matter. Write your thoughts, questions, and ideas in the comment section below to share it with your fellow readers (and me too).
